Who can replace Max Verstappen should he decide to leave team Red Bull?

Oscar Piastri, who helped McLaren F1 win their first Constructors title in their Formula One history, can be a perfect replacement for Max Verstappen.

Red Bull had incredible Formula One success in the past few years with their headliner, Max Verstappen; their association brought two consecutive Constructors titles while the Dutchman is currently the reigning four-time F1 World Drivers' Champion. However, the Austria-based team has had a history of replacing drivers or finding potential changes to pull out all the stops. It was recently witnessed when the team let go of Sergio Perez and signed the Kiwi sensation Liam Lawson from their sister team RB.

Reportedly, Red Bull has major plans for their driver's lineup for upcoming years, and they might have also figured out how they would replace Verstappen once either of them decides to end their ties.

What happens when Max Verstappen leaves red Bull
Looking at Red Bull's history of replacing their drivers, Lawson might be under pressure to maintain his seat in the team, especially after considering he was given priority over his senior RB driver Yuki Tsunoda. Tsunoda has been waiting for a seat in Red Bull for a long time now and if Sky Sports Germany commentator Sascha Roos' statement is to be believed then the Japanese prodigy might be on the run soon if Lawson fails to deliver.
"I can see Yuki Tsunoda ending up at Aston Martin sooner or later," Roos shared. "Tsunoda is supported by Honda and they will be Aston Martin’s engine supplier from 2026." He further added

Oscar Piastri can be a mighty Verstappen replacement
As per Roos' further claims, the Australian sensation Oscar Piastri, who helped McLaren F1 win their first Constructors title in their Formula One history, can also be a perfect replacement for Max Verstappen.
"I believe that Red Bull would also like to sign Oscar Piastri," There are of course good connections to his manager, the former Red Bull driver Mark Webber. And with Verstappen, you always have to expect him to say, 'Bye, thanks, that’s it,’ Roos added.
Piastri's current contract with team Papaya will expire at the end of the 2026 season, with his resume of two race wins, three fastest laps, and ten podiums, the 23-year-old can be a potential replacement for Verstappen in Red Bull.
