CWG 2026 Medal Table: India rises to fourth with 16-medal blitz

The 10th day turned out to be India's most successful outing at the ongoing Commonwealth games in Glasgow, as the contingent produced a big haul of 16 medals. The impressive performance led India from 10th to fourth in the overall standings with just one day left in the competition.

Boxing emerged as the biggest contributor, with Indian pugilists securing seven gold and three silver medals. The nation also celebrated podium finishes in para athletics, athletics and judo, raising its overall medal tally to 39 medals, consisting of 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze.

Big surge in India's medal tally

With a big surge in the medal standings, India has climbed to fourth place and now sits behind only Australia, England and Canada. Australia stays at the top with the help of 153 medals (62 gold, 40 silver and 51 bronze), while England is second ranked with a century of medals, consisting of 26 gold, 40 silver and 34 bronze. Canada claims third place with 58 medals, made up of 18 gold, 19 silver and 21 bronze.

Big win for boxers

The Indian boxing contingent enjoyed one of its greatest-ever days at the Commonwealth Games, with all 10 finalists recording medal-winning performances. The boxers dominated the competition, securing seven gold and three silver medals to complete a historic campaign and play a key role in India's overall success in Glasgow.

Double podium in para athletics

India enjoyed a strong performance in the men's f57 shot put as Soman Rana and Shubham Juyal completed a memorable one-two finish. Rana struck gold with a season-best throw of 13.40m, while Juyal followed closely with a season-best effort of 13.28m to win silver. Cameroon's Cederic Ajmadzi settled for bronze after recording 12.57m, as India claimed another double podium to its remarkable medal haul on a historic day at the Commonwealth Games.

Triple jump duo wins two more medals

India witnessed another successful outing in athletics as Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thiruman claimed silver and bronze, respectively, in the men's triple jump.

Chithravel recorded a best leap of 16.58m to finish narrowly behind Jamaica's Jordan Scott, who won gold with 16.72m. Thirumaran chased with a 16.52m effort to take bronze, giving India two places on the podium in the event.

Gulveer's historic medal

Gulveer Singh etched his name in the history books buy winning a historic bronze medal in the men's 5000m race at the Commonwealth Games. The Indian distance runner crossed the finish line in 13:24.95, narrowly edging Kenya's Cornelius Kemboi by a margin of just 0.04 seconds in a dramatic finish. Australia's Kai Robinson won the gold medal, while Kenya's Michael Kiplangat Kipsang settled for silver.

Big win in Judo

India's medal count received another boost as Unnati Sharma claimed the bronze medal in the women's 63 kg judo event. The Indian judoka produced a strong display against South Africa's Skye Noster, securing a win by ippon in just one minute and seven seconds. A perfectly executed leg hook finished the encounter instantly, earning Sharma a podium finish.
