Alex Pereira continues to draw criticism following a disappointing performance against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 which ended his UFC Light-heavyweight title run. Pereira and Ankalaev had an interesting build-up and as both the fighters are sublime strikers, a slug fest was expected inside the Octagon. However, the fight turned out to be a snooze fest as both went with a measured approach, enabling a slow and non-engaging exchange in all five rounds, paving the way for Ankalaev to be adjudged the winner on the judges' scorecard.

Daniel Cormier's Stern Assessment of Alex Pereira
The fight is still fresh in the minds of experts and on Wednesday, former UFC double champ Daniel Cormier paid heed to the fight along with Chael Sonnen during the Good Guy/Bad Guy segment on ESPN. Cormier threw severe flak at Pereira by expressing his assessment. According to DC, Poatan is incapable fo dealing with opponents bigger than him in size.
"I don't think he's strong enough to deal with anyone bigger. Those heavyweights would kind of just walk right through what he was throwing at him"
Alex Pereira had a smooth run as the Light-Heavyweight king. He got the better of Jiri Prochazka (twice), Jamahal and Khalil Rountree during his reign as champion. Having fought five times since becoming the undisputed champion in November 2023, the Brazilian was exceptionally active. He could return to the Octagon soon as the reports are already prevalent about the Ankalaev vs Pereira 2. As for the criticism, he could silence the naysayers only by avenging his loss.
