Story Highlights:

Shane Watson said working closely with Cameron Green has been an “exciting journey” for him.

Cameron Green has scored 232 runs and picked up four wickets after a slow start to IPL 2026.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their upcoming IPL 2026 clash on Wednesday, May 13 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur.

KKR are heading into the game clash with good form, having won their last four games in a row. Although the Ajinkya Rahane-led side are barely alive in the playoff race, it would be unfair to rule them out as a serious challenge for Rajat Patidar's RCB.

With Cameron Green picking up some form after enduring a disastrous start, KKR would look to get another strong performance from the Aussie all-rounder against RCB to gain a significant boost in the playoff race. Ahead of the game vs RCB, KKR assistant coach Shane Watson has opened up on how the Rs 25.20 crore worth all-rounder has absorbed pressure after facing successive failures in the initial phase of the tournament.

"High price tags are always challenging, and Cam has faced this in past IPL seasons, its nothing new for him. I am thrilled to work closely with him, as I anticipated," said Shane Watson at pre-game press conference.

While talking further, Watson said he is thoroughly enjoying working closely with the youngster and helping him improve his execution. Watson also expressed gratitude for getting the chance to guide the young all-rounder and help him unlock his full potential.

"I love guiding him to unlock his best. He is settling into his roles, and he is focusing on his execution. It is an exciting journey for him as he hasn’t played a lot of T20 cricket, and I am fortunate to help accelerate this process too," added Watson.

How Cameron Green has fared in IPL 2026

After enduring a disastrous start, it seems that Cameron Green has found some form, as he has managed to score 232 runs in 10 games at an average of 33.14 with a strike rate of 146.84. Green smashed his highest score of 79 off 55 balls against Gujarat Titans.

After being restricted to a specialist batter role for the first three games because of an injury, Green started bowling in mid-April. He has managed to give key breakthroughs, clinching four wickets.
