Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a massive win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs in their IPL 2026 clash on Tuesday, May 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder produced masterclass spells of 3/28 and 3/20 respectively, which broke SRH's batting order while chasing 169.
GT's balanced performance in the first innings
Gujrat Titans came out to bat first in Ahmedabad but failed to get a solid start. Captain Shubman Gill (5) and No.3 batter Jos Buttler (7) were dismissed on cheap scores, leaving the side struggling at 26/2.
Following the early setbacks, Nishant Sindhu played a quick fire cameo of 22 runs off 14 balls, hitting three fours and a six, while opener Sai Sudharsan tried to take control of the innings with a brilliant 61 off 44 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes. Towards the end, Washington Sundar produced a valuable knock of 50 runs off 33 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. Riding on the fighting efforts from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, Gujarat Titans posted a total of 168/9 in 20 overs.
Shaky batting from SRH batters
In response, SRH's strong top order faced a reality check while chasing 169. Crumbling to 56/5 inside the first 10 overs. Gujarat Titans' bowling unit dropped a masterclass in a key game, led by Kasigo Rabada and Mohammed Siraj, who dismantled the top order within the powerplay. By the end of the sixth over, SRH were reeling at 34/54, losing key openers like Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan to clinical spells that left the middle order exposed under immense pressure.
After the top order demolition, the SRH middle order endured a harrowing collapse between 11th and 20th overs, being bundled out for a meager 82. Jason Holder and Kasigo Rabada ruthlessly polished off the tail. Holder was the chief architect of the final slide, securing three wickets in quick succession, including an important wicket of Heinrich Klassen, while Rabada finished the game with the figures of 3/28.
The innings reached a great end in the 16th over with Prasidh Krishna induced an edge from Pat Cummins, securing an emphatic 86-run win for GT.
