Gujarat Titans (GT) claimed a dominant 82-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their IPL 2026 clash on Tuesday, May 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The GT pace-bowling attack delivered a superb performance to bundle out SRH for just 86 runs while defending 169 runs.

With the win over SRH, GT reached the top of the points table with. Notably, it was the fifth consecutive win for Shubman Gill's side in the tournament. Reflecting on the outstanding run, former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has discovered the key reason behind the Gujarat-based side's amazing performances.

On his official YouTube Channel, Ashwin admitted that he never expected GT to play this good and secure the top position while applauding their outstanding performances in the recent games.

"Genuinely, I never expected GT to be in the pole position. What they have done is an amazing accomplishment," said Ashwin.

 

 

While talking further, Ashwin claimed that GT have taken full advantage of their home conditions and used it very well in their favor.

"They are the team that has got the most out of their home conditions in the ongoing tournament," said Ashwin.

 

 

"They have used their home conditions and bowling attack to defend their home ground like no other team has been able to," added Ashwin.

 

 

Ashwin claimed that GT had managed to prepare pitches in accordance with the oppositions' weaknesses and strengths, which helped them to claim key wins in the later half of the season.

"Their resurgence after their initial blip is due to how they used the home ground. I like the fact that they are able to give a pitch in accordance with their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses," claimed Ashwin.

The Shubman Gill-led side will lock horns with Ajinkya Rahane's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their upcoming IPL 2026 clash, on Saturday, May 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
