Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings produced one of the most thrilling games in the ongoing Major League Cricket 2026 at the Oakland Coliseum on Sunday, June 27. The high-pressure game stayed wide open until the last over, delivering a thrilling finish for the fans.
Decent batting performance from TSK
Winning the toss, Texas Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis chose to bat against Washington Freedom. Smit Patel and bowlers were put on the defensive approach as Saiteja Mukkamalla (37) and Rilee Rossouw (34) gave an attacking start, before Wiaan Mulder (Unbeaten 43 off 20) and Donovan Ferreira (not-out 44 off 20) managed to give a brilliant finish at the end to propel TSK to 185/4 in the first innings. Akeal Hosein's sensational hat-trick goes in vain
Requiring just six runs to seal the win from the final over, Washington looked well placed, but Akeal Hosein almost pulled off an impossible task. The left-arm spinner removed Marco Jansen on the second ball before dismissing Amila Aponso off the very next ball, triggering a collapse.
WSF's grip from the game got loosened after Akeal completed a sensational hat-trick, with Saiteja Mukkamalla producing sharp stumping to remove Asif Mehmood. Lockie Ferguson managed to give strike to Nikhil Choudhary on strike for the last ball, leaving WSF needing five runs off the last ball.
On the final ball of the second innings, Nikhil Chaudhary smashed a brilliant six over mid-wicket to secure a sensational six for Washington Freedom.
