76ers stun Celtics in Game 7, complete historic comeback

The franchise defeated the Celtics 109-100 in Game 7 on Saturday night at TD Garden, advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals with their first playoff series victory over Boston since 1982.

The seventh-seeded 76ers completed a comeback from a 3-1 series deficit, winning the best-of-seven first-round series 4-3 in a dramatic turnaround that ended decades of frustration against their Eastern Conference rivals.

Joel Embiid dominated with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, while Tyrese Maxey delivered 30 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, including crucial baskets in the closing stages. The Celtics were led by Jaylen Brown’s 33 points, but the defending champions could not overcome Philadelphia’s resilience on the road.

The win marks only the second Game 7 victory in the 76ers franchise history and the first time the team has overcome a 3-1 deficit in the playoffs. Philadelphia will now face the New York Knicks in the conference semifinals. The result ends a long streak of playoff disappointments for the 76ers against Boston and reignites hopes for a deep postseason run.
