Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi has apologised to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for leaving the Dubai Cricket Stadium on September 28 with the trophy won by Suryakumar Yadav-led India.
Sports Tak has learned that Naqvi apologised to BCCI about the incident and said, "What happened shouldn't have happened."
Earlier this week, he had demanded that he will give the trophy to India only if Suryakumar comes to collect it.
Despite the apology, Naqvi has refused to give the trophy and the medals to the T20 Asia Cup 2025 winners India. Also, he is scheduled to leave for Lahore, Pakistan amidst the Asia Cup trophy debacle.

On September 30, Naqvi had refused to congratulate India for the T20 Asia Cup 2025 triumph over Pakistan in ACC meeting. After a heated debate over the trophy controversy, Naqvi expressed how embarrassed he felt standing during the presentation ceremony when the Indian team refused to take the trophy from him.
"I was standing there as cartoon without any reason. There was no information to acc in writing that Indian team will not accept it from me," Naqvi said, as per a source close to Sports Tak.
Indian skipper Suryakumkar had also slammed ACC for denying the winning team the trophy.
"This is one thing which I have never seen. Since I started playing cricket, I have been following cricket. That a champion team is denied a trophy. That too, a hard earned one. It's not like it happened easily. But it was a hard-earned victory. We have been here since the 4th, and played a game today. Two back-to-back good games in two days. I feel we deserved it. And I can't say anything more. I think I have summed it up really well," Suryakumar had said in the post-match press-conference.
BCCI will file an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over Naqvi's controversial move to keep the trophy and medals with himself after Pakistan's five-wicket defeat in the final, their third consecutive against India at the event.
