Ashwin and Jadeja Rescue India

India's innings got off to a disastrous start, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill all departing cheaply. The hosts were tottering at 34/3 at one stage, with Sharma and Kohli scoring just six runs each and Gill being dismissed for a duck. However, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja formed a crucial partnership, rescuing India from a precarious position. The duo's scintillating batting helped India recover from a dire situation, with Ashwin completing his sixth Test century and remaining unbeaten on 102. Jadeja also contributed significantly, scoring 86 runs. Thanks to this stellar partnership of 195 runs, India finished the day at a respectable 339/6, a far cry from their early struggles.

Jadeja-Ashwin Break Multiple Partnership Records

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin's partnership on the first day of the Test match against Bangladesh has broken several records. Their partnership is the highest for India against Bangladesh at the seventh wicket or below. It is also India's eighth-highest seventh-wicket partnership in Test cricket history. The highest seventh-wicket partnership for India in Tests was previously held by Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin, who added 280 runs against West Indies in 2013.

Jadeja and R Ashwin's partnership has continued to break records. They have now accumulated over 500 runs in partnerships at the seventh wicket or below in home Test matches. Only Kapil Dev and Syed Kirmani have achieved a higher total, with 617 runs in 14 matches. The Jadeja-Ashwin partnership is particularly remarkable as neither player is considered a specialist batter. Both are all-rounders, making their achievement even more impressive. This partnership is now the highest for the seventh wicket or below on the first day of a Test match. The previous record was held by Jesse Ryder and Daniel Vettori, who scored 186 runs against India in Hamilton in 2009.
