Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that after rain washed away two days and a half day of second Test match against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The Men in Blue planned to all-out Bangladesh as soon as possible. India had lost more than 200 overs of play with two days of complete wash-out but still men in Blue defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets.
India broke several records in the second Test match with their destructive batting while chasing 233 runs. Rohit scored 23 off 11 Jaiswal smashed 72 off 51 and KL Rahul also smashed a half century which helped India to take a lead of 52 runs on Day four itself.
"Early days but it's been a good start. Once we lost two and a half days, when we came on day 4 we wanted to get them out as quickly as possible and see what we can do with the bat. When they got bowled out for 230, it wasn't about the runs we get but the overs we got at them. Pitch didn't have much. To make a game out of it on that pitch was a superb effort. It was a risk we were willing to take because when you're trying to bat like that, you can be bundled out for a low score. But we were ready for it even if we got bowled out for 100-150" said Rohit on India's explosive batting in second Test.
Rohit Sharma on Akash Deep
Rohit also lavished praise on India pacer Akash Deep for his impressive performance against Bangladesh. Akash Deep picked up three wickets in the second Test match and got two scalps in the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
"He's been good (talking about Akash Deep). Lot of domestic cricket he has played. When you come up through the ranks like that, there are a lot of overs in the legs. He has the quality and the skill. Good body as well - can bowl long spells. You have to make sure you prepare your bench strength" added Rohit.
Rohit Sharma on Gautam Gambhir's approach
This Test series was the first assignment for India head coach Gautam Gambhir. While asked about Gambhir's mindset, Rohit said that he knows what sort of mindset Gambhir comes in with.
"We all keep going. Obviously at some stage we had to start working with different personnel. When Rahul bhai said he was done working here. We had a fantastic time but life moves on. Gautam Gambhir, I've played with him and know what sort of mindset he comes in with" added Rohit.
India will now play three T20I series against Bangladesh scheduled to start from October 06 and Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game.
