Indian legend speaks on IND vs NZ Final clash.

According to Ravi Shastri, India only have a slim lead over New Zealand even though they may begin as the favorites in the Champions Trophy 2025 final on Sunday, March 9. In a rematch of the ICC Knockouts 2000 final, India and the Blackcaps will play each other for the second time in the ongoing edition of the mega tournament. 25 years ago, New Zealand won the title in Nairobi after defeating India in a thrilling clash.

After defeating South Africa to advance to the final, the Blackcaps have been playing well throughout the tournament. Shastri stated on the ICC Review that New Zealand can defeat India on Sunday.

"If there's one team that can beat India, it's New Zealand. So India start as favourites but only just," Shastri said in 'The ICC Review'

Shastri on gamechangers

Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson are both playing well going into the match, and Shastri predicted that both players might shift the course of the match for their teams. According to the former India coach, Rachin Ravindra has the potential to transform the game.

"Now (on) current form, Kohli. When these guys get hot and you let them get their first 10 runs, then they're trouble. Whether it's Williamson, whether it's Kohli. So from New Zealand, I would say Williamson. To an extent, Ravindra, he is a fabulous young player. But these guys when they smell the coffee and you let them, in a final, get to that 10-15, then they're doubly dangerous," Shastri said.

Regarding the possible candidates for Player of the Match, Shastri stated that an all-round player might take home the honor. He chose Glenn Phillips from New Zealand and Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja from India.

"Player of the Match, I would go for an all-rounder. I'll say Axar Patel or Ravindra Jadeja from India. From New Zealand, I think that Glenn Phillips has something up. He might just show flashes of brilliance in the field. He might come and smash a cameo of 40, 50 and probably surprise you by taking a wicket or two," he added.
