Shubman Gill on India's dependency on Virat Kohli
Right ahead of the big match, India's vice captain Shubman Gill revealed one player India rely most on in big pressure match. He talked about India's dependency on Kohli in big matches.
"There is definitely pressure for big match. Whoever deals with it better wins. Say like Windies team from yesteryears, Australia in 2000s, they would take themselves out of that pressure and play the game. It is easy to say, very difficult to do. Whenever a pressure comes in, it has a tendency to build up in your mind," Gill said in the pre-match press conference.
"Virat Kohli is quite experienced and would be handy in these situations, since he has gone through this before. This is the best best batting line-up that I have been a part of. Rohit is one of the ODI greats, and Virat is Virat," Gill added.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has given India a massive injury scare on the eve of Champions Trophy 2025 final. Reportedly, Kohli has sustained a knee injury during India's a practice session. As per a report by Geo TV, Kohli was struck by a delivery from a fast bowler, prompting him to immediately halt his training. The team's physio attended to him, applying a spray and bandaging the affected area. While Kohli did not resume batting after the incident, the Indian coaching staff has reportedly reassured fans that the injury is not severe and that he will be available for the Champions Trophy final.
Kohli has so far scored 217 runs across four matches including a splendid century against Pakistan and a well crafted 84 against Australia in the semifinal.
