Anushka Sharma was ecstatic after Virat Kohli got his 51st ODI century and India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in Sunday's Champions Trophy Group A match. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the 36-year-old Kohli wowed the crowd with an undefeated century from 111 balls that included seven fours. With 45 balls remaining, India managed to chase down the mark of 242 thanks to his knock. With four points and a net run rate of +0.647, India also topped the Group A points table.
Anushka sent a cute post with heart emoticons for her husband following the game. Even though Anushka was not in the stands in Dubai, she still supported her loved one.
Kohli on his century
Kohli and Shreyas Iyer combined for 114 runs to lead India home after they were reduced to 100 for two in 38.5 overs. With a boundary from Khushdil Shah down the off-side, which was also the winning hit, Kohli got his hundred. Following the game, Kohli discussed how he constructed his innings.
"It feels to be good to bat in that manner in an important game, where a spot for semis was there to be taken, after Rohit fell. My job was clear - to control the middle overs, not take risks against spinners and take on pacers. I was happy with the template, it's how I play in ODIs,” Kohli said after the match.
"I have a decent understanding of my game. It's about keeping the outside noise away, take care of my energy levels and thoughts. It's easy for me to get pulled into expectations and frenzy around games like these,” Kohli added.
On Sunday, March 2 in Dubai, India will play New Zealand in their last and final Group A match.
