The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the dates and venues for the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup that is set to be hosted by India.The 13th edition of the tournament will commence on September 30 and will go on till November 2. A total of five stadiums across India and Sri Lanka have been chosen by the global body for the eight-match tournament.

The venues will be M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo).

The eight teams that will be participating in the ICC tournament are - India, Australia, South Africa, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Bangladesh. The first match of the tournament will feature India and will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.

Pakistan's matches to be played in Sri Lanka

ICC also announced that Pakistan will be playing their share of matches in Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa stadium. Venue for the first semi-final will either be Guwahati or Colombo and will be played on October 29. On the other hand, the second semi-final will be played in Bengaluru on October 30. The penultimate match of the much-anticipated tournament will be played either in Bengaluru or Colombo on November 2.

This will be the first time in 12 years that India will be hosting the Women's ODI World Cup and thus, onus will be on the Indian team to win the coveted trophy for the first time in their history.

Australia will be entering the tournament as the reigning champions after they beat England in the final of the tournament's previous edition that was held in New Zealand in 2022. They are also the most successful side in the competition's history having emerged victorious on seven occasions.

They are followed by England, who have won the title four times while New Zealand have also won the tournament once and they did so back in the 2000/01 edition. So far, a total of just three teams have got their hands on the prestigious trophy.
