Team India heads into the crucial Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 on a high note. However, a new set of challenges await them as they transition from the United States to the Caribbean islands. Their opening encounter is against Afghanistan at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 20. A major concern for India is adapting to the different conditions in the West Indies. Unlike the pitches in the US, those in the Caribbean are known to be more spin-friendly. This has sparked discussions about including a specialist spinner in the playing XI. While former Indian opener and World Cup champion Krishnamachari Srikkanth advises sticking with the winning combination, he has expressed his desire to see Kuldeep Yadav back in the team, hinting at a potential change for the upcoming match.

Krishnamachari Srikkanth's piece of advice for Team India
India's dominant group stage performance has sparked debate – should they stick with the winning formula, or consider changes? While some argue 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' Srikkanth believes Kuldeep Yadav could be a game-changer for India in the upcoming Super 8s.
Looking back at the group stage, Srikkanth, speaking on Star Sports Press Room, highlighted the impressive form of several players, including Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya. These standout performances are a positive sign for India moving forward.
"The positives are Rishabh Pant batting brilliantly at number 3, which is an excellent move. I think he's your game changer, I think he can just go and attack the bowling," Srikkanth said.
"He plays some brilliant shots in the top order, so Rishabh Pant coming to the party is very good. Of course (Jasprit) Bumrah has been doing very well, but most important is Hardik Pandya's bowling. His bowling has been brilliant, so these are some of the positives from the last few matches that we've seen and now coming to Kuldeep, he has to play. The change I think, if I was the captain, I think Kuldeep Yadav, wrist spinners are your match winners," Srikkanth added.
"We saw (Adam) Zampa doing it for Australia, we've seen Adil Rashid doing it for England. Even Tabraiz Shamsi does well for South Africa, so wrist spinners are always potential match-winners," he concluded.
Srikkanth wasn't alone in his opinion. Veteran spinner Piyush, when asked by Srikkanth on the Star Sports Press Room show, expressed full agreement with the 1983 World Cup winner. India boast a perfect record against Afghanistan in T20 World Cup matches, winning all three of their previous encounters. With this winning momentum, the big question remains, which is, will the team management decide to tweak the winning combination, or will they choose to field the same players who have delivered success so far in the tournament?
