Pakistan are through to the semi-final round with a comprehensive win over Namibia! The Babar Azam-led side's victory against Namibia on Tuesday was fourth on the trot and a phenomenal performance in the Super-12 stage has made them one of the favourites to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Pakistan have so far defeated India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Namibia, earning them a semi-final berth in the T20 showpiece. The Men in Green have also scripted a record when it comes to reaching the semifinals.
In the seven editions of the T20 World Cups including the ongoing one, Pakistan have reached five times. Babar and Co will now be facing the runner-ups of Group A in the semi-final challenge.
Above Sri Lanka and West Indies
Pakistan team have always been a strong side when it comes to the T20 World Cups. That’s the reason they have reached the semi-final stage most number of times than any other nation. Pakistan have cemented their place in the semi-finals in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2021 respectively.
After Pakistan, it is Sri Lanka and reigning champions West Indies who have reached the semis four times each. England, India, and Australia are the next three sides on the list. These cricketing giants have booked a semi-final berth three times while New Zealand and Sri Lanka have just reached there twice each.
Four in four this time
Pakistan have been brilliant in the ongoing T20 World Cup, registering four wins in their four games so far. Their first victory came against arch-rivals India in Dubai. Then in Sharjah, Pakistan defeated New Zealand to seal their second win of the tournament. In the third game against Afghanistan, the Babar Azam-led unit snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to complete a hat-trick of wins. Namibia became their latest victim and after a dominant win over the minnows, Pakistan are unbeaten till now in Group B, with eight points under their belt.
