Afghanistan’s loss against New Zealand ended India’s hopes for qualifying for the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2021. Like all Indian cricket fans, the Indian cricket team was also glued to the crucial Group 2 clash which apparently led to the optional practice session at 6 PM getting postponed by half an hour followed by the cancellation after Kane Williamson ensured that the unpredictable Afghans don’t pull off an upset.

Afghanistan’s loss to New Zealand immediately made the Namibia clash on November 8 a dead rubber. From Group 2, Pakistan and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals.

It will be interesting to see if skipper Virat Kohli and the team management make some changes to the side against Namibia at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar is yet to make his World Cup debut and may get a chance to bowl against Namibia.

Earlier India registered massive wins against Afghanistan and Scotland to boost their net run rate to have a chance to qualify for the last four.

Ahead of their last game, former South African cricketer and current star all-rounder for Namibia David Wiese has made a bold statement.

"Playing against India is always fantastic. The support they have is amazing. Their players are the best in the world. And those are the kind of players you want to be playing against. A couple of guys can step up and impress the right people and it could work for them somewhere else. Life is all about opportunities. We are the underdogs but you never know," Wiese told Hindustan Times.
