India are fighting for a victory in the fifth and final Test match against England, with a strong start having been diluted in the second innings at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham on Monday. Leading the line for the English batters currently are Joe Root (76) and Jonny Bairstow (72) as the side looks to win their fourth straight Test match and prevent India from securing a 3-1 victory.
One player who is destined to face the ire of the fans is Hanuma Vihari, who dropped a catch off Mohammed Siraj's bowling while Jonny Bairstow was on 14 runs. The in-form opener, who also hit a century in the first innings, edged the ball towards Vihari and the ball went straight into his hands but slipped through as the bowler glared at his teammate.
To recap, England are in pole position to snatch an important victory over India in the ongoing Test. The side needs just 119 runs, with in-form batters Jonny Bairstow (72) and Joe Root (76) standing strong at the crease. They will also be followed by the likes of skipper Ben Stokes and Sam Billings.
A loss for India will snatch a series victory from right under their noses. But, if rain does cause a major delay in the proceedings, then this might work in India's favour as England will then find it tough to score the 119 runs.
The ongoing Test is a continuation of the five-match Test series that kicked off in 2021. India has won two of the four matches, with the third match washed out by rain.
