Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has hinted a few changes in approach after India’s record loss to England at Edgbaston, Birmingham that prevented them from winning the series. Dravid did not pin-point any mistakes in India's performances in the past two days but revealed that there will be a review on why Indian batting lineup has struggled in the third innings of a Test.
However, Dravid said that they don’t have time to reflect on the mistakes of fifth Test as India will play England in a T20I clash on July 7.
"There is so much of cricket that we aren't having any time to reflect. In two days, we will be talking to you about something entirely different," Dravid said in the post-match press conference.
"...But we will certainly try and reflect on this performance. Every match is a lesson for us and you tend to learn something. We have to reflect why we aren't able to bat well in the third innings of a Test match and why we aren't able to take 10 wickets in the fourth innings," the former Indian skipper said.
The Edgbaston loss has impacted India's chances of finishing in top two of World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 standings and playing the final. India will now play six Test matches in sub-continent conditions, two in Bangladesh and four against Australia at home.
"Now the next six Test matches are in sub-continent (2 in Bangladesh and 4 in India), and our focus will be on those remaining games but obviously, coaches and selectors would sit down and analyse this defeat.
"That review happens after every game and so when we next travel to SENA land, we are well equipped to deal with it," the 49-year-old said.
Team India has also been docked two points for slow over rate in Edgbaston Test. India have slipped to fourth place after losing points and lost the third place to arch-rivals Pakistan.
