India pacer Mohammed Siraj reached a new peak on the ICC Test bowler rankings following his sensational spells against England in the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The 31-year-old took a total of 9 scalps in the match, picking up four in the first innings and five in the second.
This fantastic bowling display saw him rise 15 places and reach the 15th position with 674 rating points, overtaking his previous career-best of 16th on the rankings. Notably, the pacer also finished as the highest wicket-taker of the series with 23 scalps under his name from 9 innings. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah maintained his place as the top-ranked Test bowler in the world despite not even featuring in the fifth Test with 889 rating points under his belt.
Krishna also gained many places
Another Indian bowler who made significant gains on the bowler rankings was Prasidh Krishna. The pacer took a total of 8 wickets in the match against England at The Oval to rise 25 places and reach the 59th position. He will be looking to further improve his position when India tours the Caribbean for a two-match Test series against West Indies which will commence from October 2.
For England, both Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue made massive gains on the Test bowler Rankings with the former breaking into the top 10 with 766 rating points, the same as Australia's Mitchell Starc. Tongue rose 14 places and reached the 46th position after picking up a total of 8 scalps in the Oval Test.
On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal rose three place and reached the fifth spot on the Test batter rankings with 792 rating points. This comes after the left-hander played a fantastic knock of 118 runs in India's second innings of the fifth Test. Meanwhile, England's Harry Brook and Zak Crawley gained a place each to reach the 2nd and 42nd spot on the rankings respectively. Joe Root remained as the top-ranked batter following a brilliant ton at The Oval with 908 rating points.
Finally, Ravindra Jadeja is still at the top of the Test all-rounder rankings with 408 rating points while Akash Deep gained 12 places to reach the 62nd position following his superb inning of 66 in the Oval Test which massively helped the Men in Blue in posting a target of 374 for the Three Lions.
