Jofra Archer took a one-handed catch to dismiss Washington Sundar on Day 5

Archer has made a brilliant comeback to Test cricket

England started Day 5 of the Lord's Test against India on a very positive note. The hosts got rid of Rishabh Pant in the third over of the day thanks to Jofra Archer, who rattled the wickets of the batter with a fiery delivery. Just three overs later, Ben Stokes got the massive wicket of KL Rahul for 39 runs as India found themselves restricted to 81/6.

However, that wasn't all and Archer managed to get another wicket in the very next over. He sent Washington Sundar back to the dugout thanks to a stunning one-handed catch, leaving the visitors reeling on 82/7. This was Archer's third wicket of the innings and the video of his catch is now going viral on social media.

Archer has made a fabulous return to Test cricket

Meanwhile, Archer has made a fantastic return to Test cricket and has done so by ratting India's batting order. The England pacer made a comeback to the side's playing XI in red-ball cricket after over four years of absence. He had last played a Test match for the national team back in 2021 and was expected to strengthen England's bowling attack by a big margin with his return and that is exactly what he did.

Though he did feature for the national team significantly more in the white-ball formats, Archer did have a decent record in red-ball cricket as well. He had only featured in 13 Tests before the match at Lord's and had picked up a total of 42 scalps including three 5-wicket hauls.

Coming back to the Lord's Test, the 30-year-old took the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar in the first innings and managed to dismiss both of these batters on the second occasion as well. With five wickets under his name so far, Archer is currently England's highest wicket-taker of the ongoing match. It remains to be seen if he will be able to take the hosts to an emphatic victory at the iconic venue as the final day progresses.
