Batter maestro Virat Kohli got a little emotional during RCB Unbox event on March 19 and expressed his unwavering commitment to his franchise whose name has been rechristened to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He expressed his desire to remain with the franchise and participate in their long-awaited first IPL title. Notably, IPL 2024 is set to start from March 22.
Kohli's words ignited the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He acknowledged the unwavering loyalty of RCB fans despite the team's 16-year title drought. Inspired by the recent triumph of the RCB women's team in the WPL 2024, Kohli voiced his hope of replicating that success and finally securing the elusive IPL trophy for the men's team.

"Hopefully we can double it up with the trophies, that will be something truly special," Kohli said at the RCB Unbox event.
Kohli expressed his long-held dream of lifting the IPL trophy, not just for himself, but primarily to reward the loyal RCB fans who have supported the team through thick and thin.
"As everyone knows, I'm always gonna be here, try to be part of the group that wins it (IPL) for the first time...I will try my absolute best for the fans, for the franchise...its kind of a dream of mine as well over so many years, to know what it feels like to win the IPL," Kohli added.

While Kohli shone in IPL 2023 with an impressive 639 runs across 14 matches, the season ultimately ended in disappointment for RCB. The team finished in a lowly sixth place, failing to qualify for the playoffs. Looking to turn things around, RCB will be eager to start their IPL 2024 campaign on a winning note. Their opening match pits them against long-time rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 22 at the Chepauk Stadium.
