Why only 17 days of IPL 2024 schedule is released?
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal told Sports Tak that the schedule will be announced in phases due to general elections. Once, the Election Commission announces the polling dates for general elections. The dates are expected to be announced next month. Dhumal also said that the IPL 2024 will not be played outside India due to the Lok Sabha elections.
“Since the elections schedule will come later we have to start initial matches so some matches will be announced soon. Once the election schedule is up will accommodate matches accordingly. If you ask me can tell you tentative dates which is 22nd March and the final around 26th May,” he told Sports Tak in January.
BCCI's statement on rest of the schedule
“As in the past, the BCCI will work closely with government and security agencies, following all necessary protocols and advisories related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India. Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are announced, the Board will review and address any issues pertaining to the schedule of the first two weeks. Subsequently, the BCCI will work in tandem with local authorities to finalize the schedule for the remainder of the season, taking into account the polling dates.”
