Even at the age of 41, MS Dhoni continues to provide joyful moments to millions of people around the world. The wicketkeeper-batter is a global superstar and his fandom has scaled unprecedented heights. Even in his 40s, the Chennai Super Kings captain has the same hunger and commitment to the game as he had when he was a youngster. Much to the delight of fans, who have been reveling at every single opportunity when it comes to watching their 'Thala' bat or lead the team, Dhoni has provided ample chances to his fans in the first couple of matches to rejoice.
On April 3 (Monday), the muscular batter occupied the batting crease for just three deliveries but his short stay was enough for the fans to go bonkers. Facing probably the fastest bowler in the world in Mark Wood, Dhoni launched his first two deliveries into the stands before getting dismissed on the third ball. His 12-run knock in three balls was pivotal in the Men in Yellow's 12-run win over the Lucknow Super Giants.
After the game, Dhoni's longtime teammate Suresh Raina was in awe of his former skipper and his dedication to the game. Raina urged youngsters to learn from Dhoni in whatever capacity.
"Every youngster in the IPL must learn, be it in the dressing room or opponent team. I think the commitment, dedication, discipline and to perform for the team, it needs someone who has a big heart," Raina said on JioCinema.
"Had Mahi bhai not hit those two sixes, it would have been difficult. Even Rayudu hit sixes here and there, I think these small contributions count," he added.
Robin Uthappa, who played under Dhoni for a significant period of time, also lavished praise on his former captain.
"See, it is not easy to bring in that rhythm especially when you are facing someone (Mark Wood) whom the world considers as one of the fastest bowlers and he (Dhoni) is 41. It is not easy to hit a six that too on one leg," Uthappa said on JioCinema.
