Two sides with contrasting fortunes in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season face off against each other when Rajasthan Royals (RR) take the field against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. Mumbai are looking for their first win of the season after losing eight straight games, while RR will be hoping to assert their dominance on the second spot with a win over Mumbai.
Newly signed Kumar Karthikeya will make his debut in place of Jaydev Unadkat, while Tim David returns for MI in place of South African teen sensation Dewald Brevis. Birthday boy Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first.
"What we have seen over the course of the tournament, suits us. We like to chase. We have a couple of changes. Tim David and Kumar Kartikeya come in for Brevis and Unadkat. Preparation has been good, most of it has been done before the tournament. Hopefully, we have some fun in the middle, that's what we have been missing. We want to try and see how we enjoy ourselves. It's important to stick together as a group," the MI skipper said ahead of the game.
Meanwhile, RR will be unchanged from their win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). "We are happy to set a target, we have done that 7-8 times already. We have been playing some good cricket, it's easy to be complacent, but we are taking this game as really important. We are playing with the same team," were the pre-game comments of RR skipper Sanju Samson.
