Is there a reserve day for IPL final?

Unlike the playoffs, there is a reserve day for IPL 2023 final. If rain does not stop or play spoilsport again, the final will be played on May 29 (Monday). Even if a five-over game or super over is not possible and not a single ball is bowled, the whole match will be played on next day. However, if the game starts and is abandoned due to rain, on the reserve day it will start right where the two teams left it off. The most recent example of it is World Cup 2019 semi-final between India and New Zealand.

Cut-off form five-over game or super over

While there will be no deduction of overs if the game starts at 9:35. The cut-off time for a five-over game is 12:06 AM. The super over can start as late as 12:50 AM.

What if rain plays spoilsport on reserve day too?

In case, the final is abandoned due to rain on the reserve day as well, Hardik Pandya-led GT will lift the trophy for the second time in a row as they finished on the top of the points table with 10 points from 14 games.

As per the IPL rulebook, "In the event that it is not possible to start the Super Over as described in paragraphs 8 and 9 or to then complete the Super Over without interruption, the team that finished highest in the league table after the 70 matches of the regular season shall be declared the winner of the relevant playoff match or final."
