Rohit Sharma becomes just the second batter after Virat Kohli to script this historic milestone in IPL

While Rohit Sharma has been scoring run here and there in the ongoing IPL 2025, but Mumbai Indians fans still await a big knock from their former captain. In their recent encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rohit Sharma once again got off to a promising start, accumulating 26 runs off just 15 deliveries. However, his innings was cut short when he was caught by Travis Head off the bowling of Pat Cummins.

Rohit Sharma had an unpromising start to the IPL 2025 season, registering a duck in the opening match. However, he has shown a gradual improvement in his subsequent innings, scoring 8 in the following game, and then consistently increasing his contributions with scores of 13, 17, 18, and most recently, 26. The Mumbai Indians will be optimistic that this upward trajectory in his run-scoring continues in the upcoming matches.

During his innings of 26 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rohit Sharma etched his name in the annals of IPL history, becoming only the second batsman, after Virat Kohli, to reach a big milestone. The right-handed opener has now joined Virat Kohli as the second player to accumulate 4000 runs in matches that resulted in victory for his team. His current tally stands at an impressive 4008 runs scored in winning causes.

Rohit Sharma embarked on his IPL journey with the Deccan Chargers in the league's initial seasons, contributing to a few victories for the Hyderabad-based franchise. Subsequently, in the IPL 2011 mega-auction, he was acquired by the Mumbai Indians. Since then, Rohit has been an integral part of the Mumbai-based team, playing a key role in their success as they went on to become five-time IPL champions.

Virat Kohli holds the record for the most runs scored in winning Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, with an impressive total of 4492. A Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart since his debut in 2008, Kohli's overall IPL career tally stands at 8252 runs.

Shikhar Dhawan occupies the third position with 3989 runs scored in winning IPL matches. The former Indian opener had a lengthy IPL career, debuting in 2008 and retiring in 2024 after playing for several franchises. Following him in fourth place is David Warner, a former captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who accumulated 3710 runs in victories. Warner was not picked up in the IPL 2025 mega-auction and is currently participating in the Pakistan Super League.
