The IPL 2025 opening match will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The City of Joy will once again host the thrilling event. Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar's RCB will take on Ajinkya Rahane and Varun Chakravarthy's KKR on Saturday. Fans anticipate the entertainment show before the match starts, so the opening ceremony is creating excitement in addition to the cricket action.
Celebrities who will perform in the opening ceremony
Bollywood actress Disha Patani and well-known singers Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla will perform during the opening ceremony, as previously confirmed by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Nevertheless, the opening ceremony has a restricted amount of time.
"BCCI has given us 35 minutes for the opening ceremony, in which we need to conclude the entire show. The rest will proceed as it does every year," said CAB President Snehasis Ganguly
The opener has received an overwhelming response from fans, and the CAB President reports that all of the match's tickets have been sold out.

"We were expecting a full house. It is very common for our matches to fill up, and the fans of Kolkata have always lived up to expectations," Snehasis Ganguly added
But when the Kolkata Knight Riders, the reigning champions, play the Lucknow Super Giants on April 6, they will confront a significant obstacle. Because of the Ram Navami celebrations, Kolkata Police has stated that it will not be able to provide sufficient security for the game. On April 6, which falls on the Hindu holiday of Ram Navami, KKR will play Lucknow at Eden Gardens. With multiple religious processions taking place throughout Kolkata on this double occasion, municipal officials are facing a special difficulty. India Today and Aaj Tak reported this on March 5, 2025.
"The police have informed us that they cannot provide security for the match on April 6. We have requested BCCI to consider rescheduling the match. However, we do not know what decision the BCCI will make. We have had two or three meetings with officials, and we have contacted the sports ministry and the CM. We have made our efforts, but whether the match will be rescheduled or moved to another venue is still uncertain. The picture should become clearer in the next two or three days," Snehasis Ganguly said
According to sources, there is a chance that the match will be rescheduled or replaced with another. Venue changes and match swapping are frequent occurrences in the IPL. Within the following two or three days, BCCI is anticipated to make a decision.
