In a rain-hit encounter at home, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batters were not up to the task. RCB were reduced to 42/7 despite using an impact player. Then, they were 63/9 in the 12th over. It was Tim David who helped RCB save face in the 14 overs per side match. David  went berserk in the last over bowled by left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar and helped RCB post 95/9. Despite the five-wicket defeat at home, David was named 'Player of the match'. David asked whether he should be facing more deliveries, bat up the order to which he had a straightforward reply.

"Our coaching staff and management have built the squad for a certain reason. I am very pleased and I feel like am batting well at the moment. I can contribute but trust the coaches to put where I can score. If I get an opportunity to bat up, I will look to contribute for my team. At times when you are trying too hard, it doesn't come off. The challenge here at times in Bangalore has been to bat with the bowlers and string up a partnership. Tonight was difficult. You had to manage risks a little bit," David told the broadcasters.

RCB's need to play better at home

David admitted that RCB have not played well at home. He said that RCB need to find a template which will help them win games at home.

"We have been faced with different conditions in each match we have played so far. Tonight there was rain and the pitch was under covers and it was difficult to know how the pitch would play. We haven't played well at home. We need to find a template to find a way and win a couple of games," the Australian batter said.

David says the pitch wasn't easy

David who scored 50 runs from just 26 balls said that the pitch wasn't easy to bat on and he was informed about the pitch's behaviour by the batters who were dismissed early.

"It didn't feel so easy ( about batting on that deck). I don't know what to say. I think definitely boys batting up communicated about the conditions back down to me. I was getting a chance to see what the pitch was doing. The practice pitches have been similar. Tried to find a method to play in these conditions," the 29-year-old said.

RCB are currently placed fourth on the points table with four wins from seven games. They will have a chance to avenge their defeat at home as they take on Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS on April 20 away frome home.
