For the second day on the trot, the list of top five leading run-scorers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 remained undisturbed. Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Nicholas Pooran still has the orange cap in his possession as Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sai Sudharsan missed a golden opportunity. In the run chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Sudharsan was dismissed for a single-digit score by Mohammed Shami. Had he scored 11 more runs, he would have snatched the orange cap from Sudharsan.
Similarly, Jos Buttler missed a chance to move up in top five. The England wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for a three-ball duck by SRH captain Pat Cummins in the fourth over of the innings. After the setback against SRH, he still holds the fifth spot.

However, there was a new addition to the top 10 as GT skipper Shubman Gill scored his first half-century of the season. Gill remained unbeaten for 61 off 43 balls in the successful run chase. He is now placed ninth, just below SRH opener Travis Head (148 runs). Two more SRH batters in top 10 are Heinrich Klaasen (152) and Aniket Verma (141 runs).

GT's West Indies' recruit Sherfane Rutherford inched closer to a top 10 spot with a 16-ball 35 cameo. He is now ranked 12th.
SKY's chance to reach the top
A major change is expected as Mumbai Indians (MI) take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. MI's Suryakumar Yadav needs 32 more runs to take the orange cap. No other MI or RCB batter is even in top 20 run-scorers of the season. RCB's Phil Salt (102 runs), captain Rajat Patidar (97 runs) and Virat Kohli (97 runs) and MI's Tilak Varma (95 runs) and Ryan Rickelton (91 runs) have a chance to make huge gains.
