Gujarat Titans surged to top of the IPL 2025 points table

Gujarat Titans (GT) had the last laugh against Mumbai Indians (MI) as they eked out a thrilling three-wicket win in a nail-biting Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash played at the iconic Wankhede stadium on May 7.

After winning the toss, Gujarat Titans' captain Shubman Gill opted to bowl first. Despite a half-century from Will Jacks, Mumbai Indians' batting lineup could only muster a total of 155 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

The target of 156 runs proved to be manageable for the Gujarat Titans. Despite an early setback with the loss of B Sai Sudharsan for just 5 runs and two interruptions due to rain, Gujarat Titans held their nerves in the end and scored the required 15 runs in the final over as per the DLS method.

This second victory against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 propelled Gujarat Titans from the 4th position to the top of the points table. The champions of the 2022 season now have accumulated 16 points after playing 11 matches. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians have slipped to the fourth position in the standings with 14 points after 12 matches.
