Schedule tweak made to avoid clash with civic polls in Ahmedabad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made tweak in the IPL 2026 schedule, swapping the fixtures between the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings because of civic elections in Ahmedabad.

Big change in IPL 2026 schedule

The clash was originally supposed to take place on April 26 in Ahmedabad, but following the change, it will now be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai with the tip-off slated for 3:30 PM IST. Meanwhile the reverse fixture on May 21 has been shifted to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with a 7:30 PM IST start.

How Chennai Super Kings have performed in IPL 2026

The Chennai Super Kings kicked off the season on a disappointing note, picking up an eight-wicket loss against Rajasthan Royals in their season opener, followed by a five-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings on April 3, before picking up a massive 43-run setback against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 11.

However, the Yellow Army got back to winning ways after securing their maiden win by 23 runs against Delhi Capitals on April 11. CSK's newly signed, Sanju Samson scored a brilliant century and Jamie Overton registered a wonderful four-wicket haul against Axar Patel's Delhi Capitals.

Next challenge for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026

After claiming their first win, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side will lock horns with Ajinkya Rahane's Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, April 14. The game will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It will be interesting to see if CSK can repeat the same attacking mindset against the Kolkata-based franchise.

Gujarat Titans' performance in IPL 2026

Meanwhile, the Shubman Gill-led side got off to a mixed start to the season, suffering a three-wicket loss to Punjab Kings in their opening fixture, followed by a narrow six-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals on April 4, before securing back-to-back victories against Delhi Capitals (by 1 run) and Lucknow Super Giants (by seven wickets) on April 8 and 12 respectively.

Gujarat Titans' next game in IPL 2026

The Shubman Gill-led side will gear up to lock horns with Ajinkya Rahane's Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, April 17. The Gujarat-based franchise will look to leave no stones unturned to secure a third straight victory.
