Shardul Thakur and Rohit Sharma involved in hilarious banter

Before Friday's IPL 2025 encounter between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur joked around. MI and LSG are now ranked sixth and seventh in the competition, respectively, after losing two of their first three games. Rohit met up with his India and Mumbai teammate Shardul prior to the game. Shardul was signed by LSG as an injury replacement for Mohsin Khan after being unsold during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Because they have played a lot of cricket together, Rohit and Shardul have a strong bond.

"Khudko the Lord bolra hai (He is calling himself the Lord," Rohit said in reply

"Aur kya? Tune hi rakha hai naam! (Why not, it's you who gave me this name)," Thakur said

MI has only won once thus far, at home against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and lost twice in away games to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT). After their game against Punjab Kings, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan publicly criticized the Lucknow curator, demonstrating LSG's displeasure with their home environment. In this year's IPL, Rohit has not exactly taken off. Soft dismissals in two games and a spectacular delivery from Mohammed Siraj in the third have been the sources of his returns thus far (13, 8, and 0).
