Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy congratulated Thalapathy Vijay after his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, recorded an amazing performance in the Tamil Nadu elections. With TV projected to breach the 100-seat mark, Vijay is expected to take up the role of state's Chief Minister.
In a recent Instagram story, Varun shared an old picture with the actor turned politician, writing "Anna" in the caption. The post displays the mystery spinner's love and admiration towards the superstar.
Varun Chakravarthy's strong performance in IPL 2026
The star KKR spinner got off to a slow start in IPL 2026, as he struggled a lot in getting breakthroughs in the middle overs, which had a negative impact on the team as well, with failing to secure a single win in the first six games.
However, Varun regained his bowling form later in the tournament, clinching 10 wickets in his last four matches. He recently delivered a match-winning performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), picking up three wickets for just 36 runs in four overs. Later, he was given the Player of the Match award for his terrific outing.
After seven games, Varun stands at 13 place in the list of highest-wicket takers with 10 wickets in seven outings at an economy rate of 8.88. Interestingly, with Varun coming back in form it seems that KKR is back on track too, winning the last three matches.
Kolkata Knight Riders' performance in IPL 2026
After playing nine matches in IPL 2026, the Kolkata-based franchise is sitting at the eighth place in the standings with seven points in hand (three wins and five losses). It will be interesting to see if Ajinkya Rahane and co. can continue their positive form in the upcoming games as well.
