Lungi Ngidi's horrific head injury left everyone scared
The incident occurred during the third over of PBKS' innings. Lungi Ngidi, who was fielding at mid-off, sprinted backward in an attempt to catch a shot struck by Priyansh Arya off the bowling of DC captain Axar Patel. In his effort to reach the ball, Ngidi misjudged the trajectory and lost his balance, leading to an awkward fall where his head and shoulder struck the ground with considerable force.
The stadium was enveloped in a tense silence as Ngidi remained motionless on the field, clutching his head. The sight deeply shocked both players and spectators. Delhi Capitals' physiotherapists and medical staff rushed to his side immediately, stabilizing his neck with a brace during their initial assessment. Shortly after, an ambulance was brought onto the pitch, where medical personnel carefully transferred the pacer onto a stretcher and into the vehicle.
