Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered a major blow to their bowling depth as their star bowling all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has been ruled out for the remainder of the IPL 2026 season. The team confirmed on Sunday that the 28-year-old sustained a foot fracture, prematurely ending a promising stint with the franchise.
Ramakrishna Ghosh out of IPL 2026 due to injury
“Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026,” CSK's social media post read.

The injury is particularly disappointing given that Ghosh had only just made his IPL debut during Saturday's high-profile victory over the Mumbai Indians. In that appearance, he showed glimpses of his potential by claiming the prized wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, finishing with respectable figures of 1 for 24 across his three overs.
Ghosh first joined the Chennai-based franchise during the 2025 IPL auction and was retained for the 2026 campaign based on his impressive domestic credentials. He notably gained national attention last year when he became one of the few players to ever take seven or more wickets in a single Vijay Hazare Trophy match, achieving the feat against Himachal Pradesh in Jaipur.
His absence comes at a critical juncture for CSK as they look to climb the standings. Currently sitting in sixth place with eight points from nine matches, the defending champions will now have to find a replacement to fill the void in their pursuit of a playoff spot.
