How RCB fared in IPL 2024?
RCB staged a remarkable comeback in the previous IPL season. After a disastrous start, losing seven of their first eight matches, they rallied to secure a playoff spot. A crucial victory over Chennai Super Kings in the final league stage match propelled them into the playoffs. Faf du Plessis and his team finished fourth in the league stage, winning seven of their 14 matches. Despite their playoff qualification, RCB's journey ended in the Eliminator, where they were defeated by the Rajasthan Royals.
Virat Kohli was the standout performer for RCB, amassing 741 runs in 15 matches, including one century and five half-centuries. His impressive average of 61+ and strike rate of 154+ earned him the Purple Cap. Faf du Plessis also contributed significantly, scoring 438 runs at a strike rate of 161+. In the bowling department, Yash Dayal and Mohammed Siraj led the attack with 15 wickets each.
RCB's success in the previous season was largely attributed to the stellar performances of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis with the bat, and Siraj and Dayal with the ball. As a result, the team is expected to make significant changes to their squad in the upcoming IPL 2025 auction. With a fresh roster, RCB aims to challenge for the title under Faf du Plessis' leadership.
