In an interaction with Times of India, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly opined that the 15-year-old opener deserves a place in India's T20I side but has to wait for his chance in the Test setup, as he needs to score runs in first-class cricket to earn a proper call-up.

“In T20s, he should be included right away, but not in Test cricket. He has to score more runs in first-class cricket to get a place. But at the moment he’s just too talented.
While continuing, Ganguly left no chance to appreciate the teen sensation for enormous potential and performing with superb consistency at a global stage like IPL. Ganguly ended with calling Vaibhav as India's future.
"To see a 15-year-old boy bat like this against everyone in the world is phenomenal. He is India’s future,” added Sourav Ganguly.
