Against GT, SRH's top 3 managed to score 43 runs.

Vettori wants top-order batters to respect the conditions.

SRH lost to GT by 7 wickets after setting a target of 153.

A home defeat to Gujarat Titans (GT) by seven runs marked the fourth consecutive loss for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The finalists of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 started the season with a bang, posting the second-highest total in league's history, but, since then their top three have struggled. Losing the wickets of openers Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and no.3 batter Ishan Kishan led to an underwhelming total which was chased down by GT without breaking a sweat. After the loss, SRH head coach Daniel Vettori does not find anything wrong in the approach but wants the top-order to respect the conditions. He noted that the opposition team are putting in efforts to dismiss them cheaply and have succeeded in last few games.

"I think we know the style is going to work, but we have to respect conditions, and we have to assess really well and that's probably something we haven't done," Vettori told the reporters.

"Also, [we] have to respect how well other teams are bowling, putting a lot of planning into our top three and they haven't been able to execute it at times."

Vettori calls for 'collective' effort

However, Vettori feels it is not just their batting which has been under par but their bowling hasn't been good enough, including the previous edition.

"We haven't been able to click in a game. We look back to last year and our skills were putting big scores on and then sort of holding on for dear life with the ball," he said. "But we haven't been able to put those big scores together through a combination of things," the former New Zealand captain said.

"The good thing about the IPL is there's quick turnarounds, there's opportunities to do well and there's individual performances within those games. So I think there's still some confidence within the batting group, but it's the collective that needs to stand up now," he added.

SRH at bottom, next clash at home too

SRH are at the bottom of the points table with just one win from five games. They have plenty to think about during the long break. They will face Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home on April 12.
