Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face each other in their IPL 2026 clash on Thursday, April 22 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI's Deepak Chahar, who used to play for CSK shared a heartwarming moment with MS Dhoni during a practice session.
MS Dhoni and Deepak Chahar's humorous banter ahead of CSK vs MI clash
During a practice session at Wankhede Stadium, the MI pacer went on to approach his former captain for a conversation, but Dhoni was quick to notice the nearby camera person and jokingly scolded Chahar for bringing him along.
"Tum aaya, saath mein camera leke aaya… bhagao isko (You came along with a camera… get him out of here.),” said Dhoni to Chahar.
Chahar understood Dhoni's humor and immediately asked the camera person to go away from him.
"Arey yaar bhaiya, jao aap (Come on, brother, please go.)," said Deepak Chahar to the cameraman.
With a big smile, Dhoni clarified that they wouldn't be able to talk properly if someone was recording them.
“Haan, warna baat nahi kar paenge (Yes, otherwise we won't be able to talk.)," added the former CSK captain.
Will MS Dhoni play against MI?
So far in IPL 2026, MS Dhoni has not played a single game for the Yellow Army because of a pre-season calf injury. However, speculation around his return has intensified in recent days, with reports claiming that the former Indi skipper could comeback against Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians on Thursday, April 22.
Timely boost for CSK ahead of MI clash
Ahead of their clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 23 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Australian fast-bowler Spencer Johnson has joined the squad as Nathan Ellis' injury replacement.
The left-arm pacer missed CSK's first games because of a back injury and was working to achieve full fitness. Now Johnson himself confirmed his arrival in Chennai with an Instagram story from his official handle, as he visited 7Padel which is owned by former India captain MS Dhoni.
The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side will aim to capitalize on Spencer Johnson's abilities by including him in the playing line-up against Mumbai Indians. The left-arm pacer could be useful in Mumbai's bouncy track and if everything goes well then he could be a big asset for CSK in the IPL 2026.
