After claiming four consecutive wins, Rajasthan Royals (RR) now have picked two back-to-back losses in the IPL 2026. On Sunday, the Riyan Parag-led side failed to defend 155 against Ajinkya Rahane's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.

Following the loss, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was seen emotionally devasted as KKR's fielding coach came to console the youngster. This moment stood out as a beautiful gesture of sportsmanship.
Once again RR's young prodigy impressed everyone with his attacking batting against KKR, where he managed to hit a humongous six off Sunil Narine's ball in the fifth over of the first innings. Although Sooryavanshi's innings came to an end at 46 runs off 28 balls, consisting of six fours and two sixes.

Vaibhav (46 off 28) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (39 off 29) stitched an impressive opening stand of 81 runs, but RR suffered another batting collapse after their departure, managing only 155/9 in 20 overs.
In the second innings, RR started well with the ball removing both Ajinkya Rahane and Tim Seifert for ducks. Ravindra Jadeja produced a brilliant spell of 2/8 in three overs removing Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rovman Powell, before Rinku Singh and Anukul Roy stitching a match-winning partnership for KKR.
Rinku Singh starred with unbeaten 53 off 34 balls, meanwhile Anukul Roy played well-supported innings of 29 off 16 deliveries to guide KKR home in a last over thriller.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's strong show in IPL 2026
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi kicked off the tournament with his fiery 15 ball 52 against Chennai Super Kings in their season opener, followed with two impactful knocks of 31 and 39 against Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians respectively, before his stunning 78 off 26 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old batter failed to create an impact against Sunrisers Hyderabad, as he got dismissed on a duck.
So far in five outings, Sooryavanshi has managed to score 246 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 263.15 with the help of 24 four and 20 sixes.
