Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja are set to be in action in the upcoming round of the Ranji Trophy. Punjab and Saurashtra will clash against each other from January 22 and the two India stars will find themselves on opposing teams. With both of them confirmed to play in the domestic tournament, two more players from the Indian team have reportedly confirmed their availability as well.
According to a report by The Times of India, KL Rahul and Nitish Kumar Reddy will be featuring for Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh respectively in the Ranji Trophy. Rahul is expected to miss out on the side's upcoming match against Madhya Pradesh from January 22, but will be available to play the match against Punjab from January 29. Karnataka currently stand at the top of Elite Group B with 21 points from five games.
Reddy to be available for final 2 games
On the other hand, Reddy is expected to be available for both of Andhra Pradesh's final two group stage games in the tournament. They will lock horns against Vidarbha from January 22 and will take on Nagaland from January 29. Andhra Pradesh have a genuine chance of making it to the knockout phase of the tournament and currently stand at the second place on Elite Group A.
Both Rahul and Reddy had been in action for India in the ODI series against New Zealand. The former had played a sensational knock of 112* in the second ODI and had helped the team massively in posting a formidable total on the board. Meanwhile, Reddy's best contribution of the series came in the third match when he played a valiant knock of 53 and formed a robust partnership of 88 alongside Virat Kohli.
Pant to not feature for Delhi?
The report also claimed that Rishabh Pant will not be featuring for Delhi in the upcoming rounds of Ranji Trophy. After being ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand due to an injury to his abdomen, Pant is likely to head to BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for further treatment and rehab. He hasn't been named in Delhi's squad for their clash against Chhattisgarh from January 22 and is unlikely to regain the fitness required to feature in their final group stage game against Mumbai from January 29.
