After a loss to Bangladesh in the three-ODI series opener, Australia got off to a horrible start in the second ODI. Stand-in skipper Josh Inglis won the toss and opted to bat first, a decision he may be regretting straightaway at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Without a single run on the scoreboard, Australia lost three wickets in first two overs, even before the hero of the previous match Nahid Rana came on to bowl.

Short's poor run continued. In the absence of Mitchell Marsh, he was expected to step up but registered his third duck in a row. He got bowled by Taskin Ahmed. Short did not offer a shot as Taskin's delivery crashed into the off stump.
Mustafizur Rahman opened the bowling from the other end. Cooper Connolly poked at a good length delivery away from the body without any footwork. He managed just an edge and was caught by Litton Das. After two early wickets, Matt Renshaw got a promotion up the order. After four consecutive dot deliveries, he was beaten by the late movement generated by the left-arm pacer. Renshaw was squared up and nicked one to Das, falling for a five-ball duck.
Alex Carey and Inglis tried to do damage control as they did in the previous game. But, Mustafizur continued his stellar spell and got the wicket of Carey. The wicketkeeper-batter tried to play a cut shot but was caught by Najmul Hossain Shanto at point. He scored 13 runs from 17 balls and Australia lost four wickets for 25 runs in 7.3 overs.
Pacer makes return after 5 years
Earlier, Inglis made one change to the lineup. He replaced young Liam Scott with Riley Meredith. The 29-year-old pacer's only ODI appearance was nearly five years ago against West Indies where he remained wicketless and conceded 36 runs from five overs.
Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan made one change to the winning combination, replacing Saif Hassan with Soumya Sarkar.
