During the T20 World Cup 2021 in United Arab Emirates (UAE) the former Indian T20I skipper Virat Kohli, speedster Jaspreet Bumrah and former head coach Ravi Shastri had raised concerns about the hectic bio-bubble and mental health of the players during the tight schedule. Now, India’s new head coach, Rahul Dravid has also came in the full support of the players regarding their workload concerns.
As per reports, the newly-appointed head coach had also raised concerns about the players’ workload management with the Cricket Advisory Committee during an interview for the position.
After the rise of concerns by the players, support staff following the poor campaign in the T20 World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be taking bio-bubble fatigue into account before planning ahead.
“The BCCI will decide on which player needs to be rested depending on how much cricket is being played. We are aware of the fatigue issue. The player who has been rested will get his place back in the team even if the replacement does well,” the unnamed BCCI official told English Daily.
Earlier, the former head coach, Shastri had said that considering the fatigue in the bio bubble, even the Australian great Don Bradman would have also suffered.
“I don’t read too much into Virat’s form. I don’t care who the player is. If you put even Don Bradman in the bubble, his average will come down. Eventually, the bubble will burst,” the 59-year-old had said during a press conference.
Just after the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian side in T20Is in the three-T20I series against New Zealand which starts from November 17. Meanwhile, Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja have been rested before the Test series against New Zealand which is also a part of World Test Championship.
