After Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's rise put Bihar on the world cricket map, another teenage sensation from the state has made headlines for good reasons. 15-year-old Akshara Gupta from Raxaul displayed a stunning batting performance, as he scored unbeaten 306 runs off just 106 deliveries in the Bihar Women's Under-19 One Day Trophy, recording one of the most sensational knocks in Indian age-group cricket and emerging as a promising star for the future.

Another Sooryavanshi in the making
Akshara's astonishing came in the tournament's opener in Bhagalpur, where she unleashed an assault on the bowlers. The young batter smashed 55 boundaries and eight sixes during her unbeaten 306, with 268 runs coming through fours and sixes. Her innings witnessed a staggering strike rate of 242.86, she played only four 233 as rewrote the record books.

The young batter wasted no time to get settled on the field, as she reached her half-century in just 16 balls before bringing up her hundred in 34 balls. Akshara continued with the same attacking intent throughout her innings, eventually reaching triple century and joining an exclusive list of batters to reach the rare feat in Indian women's domestic limited-overs cricket.
With this historic inning, she joined Mumbai's Ira Jadhav, who smashed unbeaten 346 in the Women's U-19 One Day Trophy last year.

Coming from a middle-class background, Akshara is the daughter of Raj Kishore Shah, a chicken shop owner in Raxaul. At a tender age of eight, She picked up a bat for the first time and found her interest in the game. With no professional coaching available for girls in the town, Akshara started working hard on her skills on a makeshift pitch with the support and guidance of her uncle.
However, her dedication towards the sport started to show results, as Akshara found a place in Bihar's Under-19 women's squad and, at the age of 14, was given the responsibility to lead the side. She managed to compete in four BCCI age-group tournaments in a single season.
