Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to retain A+ contract despite T20I retirement.

BCCI feels Ishan Kishan has worked on his issues but not done enough to get back his position.

The Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) is expected to announce the list of centrally contracted players in the coming days. Middle-order Shreyas Iyer is set to earn back his central contract after going through the grind in domestic cricket and playing a vital role in India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph as their highest run-scorer. But, Sports Tak has learnt that Ishan Kishan may not get a central contract.

Both Iyer and Kishan were dropped from the annual central contract retainership list last season for failure to turn up for their respective domestic cricket matches. While Iyer proved his mettle in the ODIs and banging on selectors doors in other formats as well, Kishan is yet to get his place back.

"He still has to wait for his return in central contracts. He has worked on sorting out issues but has not done enough to be get his position back," a source told Sports Tak.

Rohit, Kohli to retain A+ contract

Meanwhile, India's ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma alongside Virat Kohli are set to retain their A+ central contract worth Rs 7 crore despite retiring from the T20I format last year following T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.

"They are big players and will be accorded the respect they deserve," the source said.

It also suggests that Rohit and Kohli are in India's plans for Test cricket. After the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, India will travel to England to kick off their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign with a five-Test series commencing on June 20.

Rohit had scored just 31 runs from five innings whereas Kohli could not register a fifty-plus score after a century in Perth Test on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. There were speculations around Rohit's retirement after he opted out of Sydney Test but the veteran batter confirmed that he is not going anywhere.
