Shyres, Padikkal hit fifties as India D take control

 

Skipper Shreyas Iyer showcased his leadership skills with a well-crafted 54 runs off 44 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal contributed a valuable 56 runs off 70 balls. Their contributions steadied India D's innings after a shaky start, propelled them to a strong position at stumps on Day 2, despite the early dismissals of openers Atharva Taide and Yash Dubey. Manav Suthar, a young left-arm spinner, stole the show for India C, claiming excellent figures of 5/30 in 15 overs. Suthar's wickets included the well-set Padikkal and Ricky Bhui, who was trapped leg before wicket for a valuable 91-run innings.

Earlier, India C, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, were bundled out for 168 runs, primarily due to outstanding bowling performances from Harshit Rana (4/33) and Axar Patel (2/46). However, India D's innings faced an immediate setback as Vijaykumar Vyshak struck twice early, removing Taide and Dubey.

India D Consolidates Lead on Day 2 against India C

 

Iyer and Padikkal played pivotal roles in stabilizing India D's innings, displaying composed batting. Iyer's aggressive approach combined effectively with Padikkal's steady knock, allowing India D to regain control. Even after Iyer's dismissal, Ricky Bhui continued to contribute with a resilient 44 runs off 91 balls. However, India D's innings faced a setback with quick dismissals, including ducks for Saranssh Jain and Arshdeep Singh.

At the close of play on Day 2, India D had established a crucial lead, with Harshit Rana and the in-form Axar Patel remaining at the crease. With a solid foundation in place, India D is well-positioned to continue their strong performance on Day 3. The team's aim is to extend their lead further and put India C under increasing pressure. The third day promises to be a crucial juncture as India D seeks to capitalize on their advantage.
