After a disastrous IPL 2025 campaign which saw the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finish at the bottom of the points table, legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni has finally broken silence on his future with the franchise. The 44-year-old was recently spotted attending a private event, where he reassured fans that he will be a part of the record 5-time IPL champions for a long time.
“Me and CSK, we are together. You know even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don't think I'll be playing for another 15-20 years! But yeah,” Dhoni stated.
“It's not about one year or two years. I will always be sitting in a yellow jersey. You know whether I’ll be playing or not in a while, but yeah, you know yourself,” he added.

Dhoni was expected to leave the Chennai-based franchise after IPL 2024 as he had sustained a serious knee injury. However, the wicketkeeeper-batter made a brilliant recovery and was back with the side for IPL 2025. He even took over captaincy from Ruturaj Gaikwad during the season as the latter got ruled out mid-way through the tournament due to an elbow injury.
Dhoni opened up about CSK's abysmal IPL 2025 season
It proved to be quite a disappointing campaign for CSK as they only managed to record a victory on four occasions. They finished tenth on the standings with just 8 points under their name from 14 matches. Dhoni addressed the side's poor display in the previous season and stated that it is very important for the players to assess the areas where things went wrong for them.
“Yes, the last couple of years have not been good for us. We have not been up to the mark. But what is important is for you to see the learnings. Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong? And that was the question for us last year also,” Dhoni further stated.

It will be interesting to see if the CSK side will be able to make a turn around and once again challenge for the IPL title next season or if they will once again end up having another dismal campaign. The IPL 2026 mini-auction that will be held in December later this year, will be absolutely pivotal for the Chennai-based franchise, who will be looking to improve in many areas.
