Harshit Rana returned home.

He got angry at a reporter.

Following the team's historic Champions Trophy 2025 victory in Dubai the day before, India's fast bowler Harshit Rana arrived at his hometown of Delhi on Monday evening. But as soon as he arrived in Delhi, he was enmeshed in a fresh controversy. A reporter wanted to interview Harshit Rana and asked him questions. However, a disgruntled Rana asked the reporter not to do the interview because he was worn out after the lengthy journey.

Rana went on to tell the reporter that he was happy to have contributed to India's Champions Trophy victory. Without responding to any more of the reporters' questions, he quickly took a seat in his car.

Harshit Rana in Champions Trophy 2025

The 15-man Indian team for the Champions Trophy included Harshit Rana. The fast bowler was rested for the tournament's third match against New Zealand after playing in the opening two games against Bangladesh and Pakistan. Since the Indian team had already guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals, the management made the decision to rest a youthful Rana. He was replaced in the starting lineup by Varun Chakravarthy, and the enigmatic spinner quickly made an impression.

The Indian squad had to alter their lineup for the semi-final and final after Chakravarthy's outstanding five-wicket haul in just his second ODI encounter. Despite missing the first two games, Chakravarthy was the game-changing element and went on to become the tournament's second-highest wicket-taker. Rana, meanwhile, took four wickets at a meager economy rate of 3.97 and an average of 15.25 in two games. Earlier, he was added to the squad to take Jasprit Bumrah's place because he was injured.

India finally won the Champions Trophy after a 12-year hiatus. They have not won this competition since 2013, when MS Dhoni was captain. India overcame a determined New Zealand squad by 4 wickets in the final. Despite their best efforts, New Zealand eventually ran out of resources, and India took full advantage of it. In the final, Rohit Sharma led his side from the front and played a captain's knock. With 76 off 83 balls, seven fours, and three sixes, Rohit gave India a strong start and set the stage for the middle order.
